Luxe Invites for Less

January 17, 2010

Many brides want to splurge on their invites – they see the invitation as the first glimpse into the wedding itself.  And when it comes to wedding invitations, there are two options to really “wow” your guests.  However, those options are most often not so friendly on your wallet.

I’ve come across two fabulous Etsy sellers (for those who haven’t heard of Etsy, I would advise visiting the site immediately after reading this post, as it is basically a mecca for basically anything wedding-related).

LetterpressLight makes gorgeous custom letterpress invites.  The invites are made the old-fashioned way and pressed by hand.  Letterpress is considered the most formal and elegant method of wedding invite, dating back many years.  Her designs are gorgeous and significantly less expensive than you would find in a typical printing shop that offers letterpress.  You can either choose to use one of her existing design templates (like this gorgeous one below), or for a surcharge you can design your own.

An equally as glamourous but more modern option is a boxed invite.  These invites will truly take your breath away and are truly beautiful and unique.  They also typically run between $20-$30 per invitation, plus the hefty cost of postage.  So you can imagine my excitement when I found justembossed on Etsy, who offers stunning couture boxed invitations at a relatively reasonable cost.  Be aware that these types of invitations are better suited for smaller guest lists, simply because you can save some cash by handing out the invites by hand.
